A few words about Oriades
In Greek mythology, the Nymphs who lived in the mountains, and protected them, were known by the collective name Oriades.
The worship of the Oriades usually took place inside caves. The Oriades sometimes also obtained special collective names from the name of the mountain, on which they lived, e.g. Kithaironides, Elikoniades, Diktaies etc.
Some of the Oriades Nymphs, who are mentioned in mythology, were Inoni (at the mountain Idi of Troas), Vritomartis, Echo, Kyllini, Kynosyra, Pitys etc.
The Oriades were connected with the goddess Artemis (Diana), since, when the goddess went hunting, she preferred the mountains and the mountain forests.
